Patrick Sydes

Un home de sincérité.

I shall remember Patrick for his kindness, acceptance, and humour. He was a gentle and encouraging presence. When I was very young Patrick gifted me a book with beautiful pictures in it, which I still treasure. I give thanks for happy memories - eating out together in Brick Lane and talking about art, poetry, and gardens, and many hilarious conversations about music! I am glad that my husband Andrew and our daughters Imogen and Alice were able to spend time with Patrick, and we felt honoured when we were invited to the Sydes family gathering a few years back - a lovely occasion. Sincere condolences from all of us to Keiran and to all family, friends, and art class members who will be missing Patrick now and in the days to come.

We will miss our regular visits to see Helen’s brother dear Patrick. He always found interesting things for us to do during our visits often in St Priest where he made so many friends. He has always been a gentle, kind and thoughtful person with a strong sense of humour. It was always a pleasure to be with him whenever we met either here in the UK or at his home in France. We have so many fond and happy memories that stretch back through the years. We are both very sad along with the rest of the family to loose Patrick our eldest brother. We will all miss him greatly. You were so serene when we saw you last year in Lempure, I thought you'd be there forever. By coincidence I was back in Clermont-Ferrand this summer, imagining that we'd have so many opportunities to come and see you again. It's very sad that Mum never managed to tell you about the birth of our daughter. Your philosophical approach to life affected me, and I'm sure many others.
